No
matter how beautiful or inspiring one finds the landscape in this part
of the Dominican Republic it is the people that make a visit here so special.
There is a charm and a warmth about Dominicans that transcends language.
These are people who love life and love people not matter where they are
from or how they communicate. They may not have much, but whatever they
do have they will gladly share.
Your
first encounters will be with the staff of the Hacienda. Henry Santos
will be your principle host and guide. His enthusiasm and charm is infectious.
Whatever you might want or need, Henry will arrange it for you.
You
will also be introduced a dizzying collection of fascinating locals at
the beach. You will find them all charming and friendly. Dona Juana and
her husband Goyo manage one of the little casettas where you may find
yourself hanging out or stopping for food. She is practically an institution
at the beach.
As
you get to know the people you will start to understand what makes La
Ensenada unique. Each of these people has a special connection to the
area and a distinct connection to the community. Fausto, for example,
can always be found at the beach on weekend shuttling people to the islands
or just taking them out for little joy rides.
Warrington helps manage another of the Casettas.
